This is a rather neat oak display case. Note the round lid on the top----originally the piece would have had a sponge underneath this lid which was kept wet. The purpose of that was to keep tobacco fresh---cigars, pipe tobacco, cigarettes--whatever the merchant was selling. The sponge is long gone but the piece is now an excellent counter top display case. Refinished and with a nice even mellow color. Back door (chamfered) opens to gain access---I believe the glass is all original including the shelf. Overall size is 19 wide, 13 deep, and 23.5 high. Very unusual piece.
