What a wonderful cabinet. I was told, and feel quite certain, that this piece is either a Herter Bros (Gustav Herter) piece or a Pottier and Stymus piece. Very high quality china cabinet or bookcase. Executed in rosewood with several secondary woods for the inlaid marquetry. Beautiful and detailed bronze dore mounts and moldings. Nice detailed hand gold incising all contrasting nicely with the rosewood. Professionally restored and finished with an excellent French polishing technique. Very good condition with slight wear on the presentation top and a slight separation on the top right side (see photos). Overall size is 40 wide, 19 deep, and 59 high. Remnants or the original label on the back but nothing visible. It is not often that such a high quality piece is offered for sale at this reasonable price. Circa 1870.
