A lovely and charming carved alabaster and marble statue. The piece depicts two young children together as 'Friends'. A wonderful late Victorian motif, circa 1890s. Signed on verso 'P. Bazzanti, Florence'. Pietro Bazzanti was a famed Italian artist born 1825 and died in 1895. Piece has an early repair to the base (see photo) which is secure and stable and in no way detracts from the beauty of the piece. Overall height approximately 18.5 inches excluding the 1.75 inch stepped plinth. Exceptional rendition of loving children.
