Unusual and high quality three door oak bookcase. Piece has been painstakingly restored and is in excellent condition. I believe everything about this piece is original with the exception of the brass pulls (the pulls are exceptionally heavy and the original locks to each door work fine). Nice old wavy glass. Note the detailed and fine carving on the ends and along the top. Also, the carving on the ends is actually on the door which allows complete access to the interior when the door is open rather than a 'hidden corner' which is typical of most bookcases. The BIG SURPRISE is the top carvings above the doors are actually each a drawer (see photos) with finger pulls on the bottom of each! All 9 shelves are adjustable (neat unusual round pegs for the inserts) and the doors and drawers work properly. The turned (Elizabethan) ends go down to a sculptured base and bun feet (with original casters). Overall size is 63.5 wide, 16 deep, and 51.5 high. Circa 1895, I would think.
